BIO: DJ/Producer Ron Trent, rooted in the dance music world for over 29 years, is largely regarded for producing and playing an eclectic range of music. Raised in Chicago's early underground music scene in the 1980s, which transitioned from Disco into House.. A perennial presence in music since the early 90's, Ron Trent is considered to be one of the architects of the Chicago music scene. He began the journey through studying and collecting records from a young age, taking cues from his father who ran a record pool in the late 70's. This upbringing provided the strong foundations which not only enabled him to become a respected DJ in his early teens, but also gave him the confidence to embark on his own productions in the mid 80s, culminating in his first release, the highly recognized and international acclaimed classic "Altered States", in 1990.Through his legendary Prescription Records, Ron has notched up an extensive back catalogue of his own productions and introduced several key players. Prescription Records is widely regarded as one of the most influential Deep House imprints of the period. In the early 90's, Ron collaborated with House/R&B team Hula & Fingers, producers for Jive records and production credits with Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Kool Mo D, High Five, Lidell Townsend and MTF. Under the direction of Hula & Fingers, Ron began to develop his skills as producer and musician by incorporating his training as a percussionist along with developing skills on the keyboards. After several releases on Club Records, Hula & Fingers classic imprint, Ron went own to form his own label with renowned vocalist/producer Chez Damier. In 1993, Ron and Chez began creating the template for what would become the signature Prescription sound, eventually finding its way into various remix and writing production hits, and implementing the conception of Prescription Records. Prescription Records, together with it's sister label Balance, introduced the likes of Anthony Nicholson, Abacus, Glenn Underground (CVO), Moody Man, Norma Jean Bell, Joshua, Peven Everett, Rob Mello, and Luke Solomon to the world. During its course, Prescription became known for issuing superbly produced, often epic dance music by drawing influences from all over the globe and delighting club goers, as well as DJs with its highly unique sound.Ron's sound expanded in 1997 with the release of the dance classic "Ncame U.” With writing partner Anthony Nicholson, famed vocalist D'bora, and Peven Everett on trumpet, this record launched Ron onto the NYC dance scene. After moving to NYC in the early 90's, Ron Trent quickly gained respect as a DJ/Producer by playing for Body and Soul at Shelter and hosting his own events at the legendary night club Vinyl in downtown Manhattan. Ron’s DJ and production skills would eventually lead to collaborating with giant step records, creating a new sound that would lead the way for the future of Giant Step the club and Giant Step the label. In 2000, Ron started his highly popular weekly residency with Giant Step at Shine, bringing forth a fusion of Neo Soul, Jazz Funk and World music whilst merging it into a dance formula. With Ron's vast knowledge of music and Giant Step’s thirst for the cutting edge, the event became one of the most top rated nights in NYC. Ron's in-house productions on the Giant Step/Sony label, featured artists such as Amel Larrieux, Jody Watley, Anastacia, Donnie, Carl Hancock Rux, Lina, just to name a few. His productions have lead to work with other greats including Tony Allen, Chucho Valdes, Papa Weba, 4Hero, Amp Fiddler, Groove Collective, as well as various other world artists. DJ compilations include: “Giant Step Sessions” (Giant Step), "Musical Reflections (R2 BBE), “Afro Blues” (Kings Street), “Deep&Sexy 2” (Wave music), “Abstract Afro Journey” (King Street). In addition to prescription, Ron Trent created two further imprints which broadened the scope of his music production spectrum. Electric Blue recordings features more experimental sound, pushing the envelope and complementing the already established prescription sound. Future Vision Records was created as a platform to combine various artists with the signature Ron Trent production. Ron has also built up a quite a reputation within the music industry circles with his unique interpretations and reformulations of commercially popular tracks on his remixes, such as 'Honey' by Erykah Badu and 'Spring Summer Feeling' by Jill Scott. Outside of running record labels Prescription, Future Vision, Electric Blue Recordings and Music And Power, the last few years has seen Ron Trent making his presence known internationally: from regularly gracing the decks at Berghain in Berlin and making appearances at ADE in Amsterdam, to playing for serious audiophile and music connoisseurs in both London (Need2Soul, Boiler Room, Brilliant Corners) and Japan (Air, Circus)....just to name a few. Now based back in Chicago, Ron Trent's musical quest for knowledge and tones continues. Having been featured on Red Bull Music Academy numerous times and co-curating the multimedia exhibit 'Move Your Body - the Evolution of House Music' at the Chicago cultural centre in summer 2015, 'SODA' is an organisation Ron Trent founded in 2016 with the aim of perpetuating and preserving the legacy of underground music through cultural and educational events for future generations ahead. QUOTE:  I studied architecture from the earlier stages of my life alongside, playing drums, collecting music, and being a history enthusiast. I guess you can say it is a combination of who I am and what I do today as producer of sonic forms. Collaborating with 101 is allowing me to express a portion of my vision to share with my collective worldwide. I admired 101 Apparel’s ability to capture a certain ratio of analog inside of their design. I am a big fan of punk art and rebel design. There is a chicness inside of simplicity and a complexity in its creativity. This presentation is a combination of my sentiments through Sonics and fabrication, all weaved together to connect to you."  101 Apparel · The Coming - Inst

Thus, the virtuoso known as GE-OLOGY is a rare find indeed. During the 80's, the young Baltimore native eventually relocated to New York City, where his multi-dimensional talent was destined to ripen with opportunities that continue to ensue globally. This masterful music producer, exceptionally skilled DJ, and equally gifted visual artist has been acclaimed for over two decades, however he remains somewhat of a mystery. Over the course of his career, he's worked with the likes of Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Jill Scott, De La Soul, Yukimi Nagano (Little Dragon), Jem and even a young Tupac Shakur. After years of producing dominantly hip-hop tempo releases, he defiantly returned in 2015 with the dance floor monster "Moon Circuitry" featuring Mark de Clive-Lowe (his debut single on Theo Parrish's esteemed Sound Signature imprint). It was received in high regard as perhaps one of the top releases of the year in the underground dance music scene (instituting anticipation for his full-length LP scheduled to be released later this year). Although his roots in composing 4-on-the-floor dance tempo music dates as far back as his earliest hip-hop beats, this seemingly "new" direction boldly challenged expectations based on his previous body of work. Yet to the contrary, his very first production appearance came in the form of a collaboration with the Baltimore-based house music legends, The Basement Boys, who used one of his tracks for their 'Those Guys' moniker in 1993. Collecting records from the age of 5, playing instruments from age 9, and DJing since the age of 11...his relationship with music has been a lifelong journey of unyielding education & exploration. There's something very personal, intimate and risky in his approach to playing records that you don't often experience in today's DJ sets. Traveling across continents with selects from his carefully curated vinyl collection, he digs deep, weaving diverse genres that seamlessly coalesce to bring dance floors to life.  QUOTE:"Back in May of 2016, a message from my good friend Mark de Clive-Lowe showed up in my inbox. It was an email introduction connecting Eric Crandell (the founder of 101 Apparel) with me for a possible collaboration project. Over the years, 101 Apparel had collaborated with a list of acclaimed DJs, artists and music producers for their limited-edition "101 Apparel Artist Series", so I was quite honored when they reached out to me as well.  At the time, Mark and I were riding the wave from my Sound Signature release, "Moon Circuitry", a raw uptempo dance-oriented song which features his brilliant keyboard playing in combination with some soulfully-unapologetic "slap you in your mouth" music I produced. The record broke boundaries, won awards and opened eyes in ways I didn't anticipate, majorly catapulting me back into the music production scene after my 5 year hiatus away from releasing records. And things have been growing stronger and stronger ever since...something I'm beyond grateful for. So when the 101 Apparel opportunity presented itself, I knew immediately that it would be important to connect the dots back to my history...helping my new audience I've acquired in the current underground dance chapter of my career, to also have a taste of my roots in underground hip-hop, etc. For the exclusive promo 7-inch, I wanted to revisit a song favorite I produced and recorded with Mos Def, and on the flip, include a previously unreleased song I produced and recorded with Yukimi Nagano (prior to the formation of the band Little Dragon she's now become famous with). Constantly touring and DJing internationally this entire time, it's taken longer for everything to finalize for this project, but I knew once all was completed, it would be special. Plus being that 2018 marks the 25th anniversary since my music was first released on vinyl, I felt this was also the perfect way to remind or enlighten folks that I didn't just pop onto the music scene in 2015. Despite my youthful appearance, I've been at this for quite a long time. It's remained important for me to not only continue to challenge myself in new ways, but to maintain the balance of staying true to the principles that my legacy was first founded on...the things that I've learned from the greats that came before me.  Collecting records since the age of 5 means that diggin' for music has literally been threaded into the fabric of my lifestyle the last 4 decades. It's been a lifelong journey of discovery, education and pure joy that keeps me growing, learning and sharing. So I definitely wanted my DJ mix to reflect this. My goal was to cohesively weave a slow-building story using numerous vinyl gems from various soulful genres I've collected over the years...records that would eventually inspire the listener to get up out of their seat and dance, evoking the kind of inner happiness that only music from the soul can fill us with. Whether we're familiar with the music or not, or what year it was recorded and released...good music that moves us remains timeless in my opinion. And hopefully through my selections, this becomes apparent...enjoy!" - GE-OLOGY Ge-Ology Stays Diggin 7" Vinyl EP: "Superstar" Featuring Mos Def Ge-Ology Stays Diggin 7" Vinyl EP: "Longin" Featuring Yukimi Nagano

Sun Ra once spoke a future where the mere thought of a place would take somebody there. In the past future of today, RAS G explores space and time through his ancient/futuristic music. Dusty, ethereal and bugged out, the Crate Creator's beats bring the past to the future. Back On The Planet, _G's first Brainfeeder release in years, finds the blunted master of the beat guiding his Afrikan Space Program further out than ever.  Since his arrival on the planet, RAS G has called Los Angeles his base. Growing in South Central, _G was tapping into his innate knowledge while having the earthly experience of living in the "ghetto." Gravitating towards the turntables early, _G spent formative years DJing spots like Project Blowed and Five On The Black Hand Side in Leimert Park until his cousin Wolverine introduced him to the SP-1200 and thoughts of production became realities. Equally informed by the looped-up dust of classic boom-bap and the avant-garde esotericism of free jazz, _G began paving his own path in the beats. He cut his teeth in the early days of Low End Theory and in precursor nights like JuJu and Sketchbook. Day long hangouts at record spots like Aaron's (RIP) and Poo Bah's laid the foundation for projects, live experimentations and new experiences. A key pillar in the Los Angeles community, _G is the power-forward of the Brainfeeder crew, down since day one.Its an honor to present to you our "Alternate Destiny" project with RAS G & The Afrikan Space Program. Limited of 300, hand screen printed. MdCL (Mark de Clive-Lowe) & GB (Gifted & Blessed) “POWER TO THE PEOPLE”  "Power to the People is about activism through art. Music certainly doesn’t have to be angry, loud or noisy to embody the spirit of progress, freedom and unity - sometimes it’s the quiet ones that resonate the most. For my part, the mixtape selection is all about music with undeniable essence and substance that goes hand in hand with great artistry and reflecting the human spirit. Taking the past and recontextualizing it to the present - keeping it all timeless. On the 7” we’ve paid homage to two iconic titans of jazz - Charlie Parker and Joe Henderson - the former remixed by me and the latter reworked from scratch with an original GB interpretation. Kick back, relax and enjoy!" - Mark de Clive-Lowe (Mashibeats/CHURCH) MARK de CLIVE-LOWE BIO: (MdCL) is one of the most innovative producers and live performers you will find anywhere.  Anchored by the duality of his Japanese and New Zealander parentage and ignited by a love of playing piano at the age of four, it is no wonder this multi-national phenom has seen his explosive natural gifts blaze across the globe from NZ to the US, UK, Europe, Asia, Cuba and South Africa. Whether you call him artist, producer, composer, pianist, performer, DJ, or selecta, titles are impartial to Mark de Clive-Lowe (MdCL). Many try to classify this impressively fertile music journey, yet to identify with only one label belies the heavy scope of the ride. The piano set the course, the keyboard is the vehicle, and with the drum machine as the fuel, the relentless skill of MdCL is underscored by a rare sonic sensibility. He's an accomplished musician, originally sowing his oats in straight-ahead jazz, before taking the music far beyond. A devastating live performer, the MdCL experience is marked by impromptu studio production created on stage from scratch, using drum machines, keyboards and effects. The end result: live remixes birthed on stage for each and every gig. With bold chops like this, to call him "prolific" is an understatement, having contributed to over 250 releases and being a first-call collaborator for a wide range of artists, including Jill Scott, Jody Watley, Leon Ware (Marvin Gaye/Michael Jackson/Maxwell), DJ Spinna, Sandra St. Victor (The Family Stand/Chaka Khan), amongst a slew of others. Based in LA for the past 7 years after a decade entrenched in the cultural epicenter of London's broken beat scene, MdCL leads his live band with his party CHURCH (also the name of his latest album); performs solo live electronic sets for the dancefloor; educates with masterclasses and workshops; and collaborates with a broad range of artists and creatives. Melding the beat-making and technology with musicianship and tradition, MdCL's potential is beyond convention. He's one who takes it all on the road like no one else, with a solid fan base that bridges cities as far reaching as LA, NYC, Atlanta, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Tokyo and Sydney. "(the) avant-garde soulful Pianist/DJ/Producer delivers his lifetime of journeys to different musical ports in a concise package, seamlessly... transporting not just in genre but in emotion and spirit." - Huffington Post (USA) "...a timely reminder that some of the greatest producers, in line with the likes of Quincy and Stepney, are also musicians with chops as well as smart adventurers in sound." - Echoes Magazine (UK)  "an underground phenom..." – Okayplayer (USA) GB BIO: Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker is a composer and sound artist who is best known for his electronic works of widely varying styles. He has released records through his own label, Gifted & Blessed, as well as with several others including Wild Oats, Eglo, All City and Sound In Color.  In his late teens, Gabriel began releasing records using his GB moniker. These recordings are considered to be an important link in the beginnings of the Los Angeles beat movement, which was fueled largely in its inception by the work of GB and several other artists then releasing music with the Sound In Color label in Los Angeles. After releasing a critically-acclaimed first album, Soundtrack for Sunrise (2004), Gabe grew restless with his approach to music and decided to explore different realms of sound and to revisit aspects of creating sound which he had only gleaned by then. The next few years were a period of intense study for Gabe, mainly in the areas of MIDI composition and analog synthesis. This is reflekted in the works he has released since, which range often drastically in style and exhibit the breadth of his learning process. He calls these varying sounds by the umbrella term "technoindigenous studies," a bridging of the technological with the ancestral in his music. He is most known in the dance music community for the records he has released under his monikers GB, Gifted & Blessed, and The Abstract Eye, as each of which has released several records that have somewhat become cult classics. Check his discography. Gabe has done collaborative work as producer, remixer and musician with a wide host of artists, ranging from Flora Purim and Airto to Spacek, J*DaVeY, Little Dragon, Baatin and many others. In live performance, Gabe has been known to demonstrate a wide variety of processes with his full analog synthesizer and drum machine rig. At times he has been known to host sound meditations. Other times he's known for his unique recreations of his own dancefloor pieces, something like a recital at which one cannot help but to move with the music and go within. He's also been known to play DJ sets of his own works (often unreleased and lesser known pieces) for people in clubs around Europe, North America and the Caribbean. Kutmah: When talking about Kutmah, it’s tempting to use an epithet such as “the best DJ you’ve never heard”, or “best kept secret”. But we like to think enough people know about him now to make that unnecessary. Justin McNulty was born in Brighton, England to an Egyptian mother and Scottish father. He moved to the United States when he was 12 years old and grew up in Hollywood, California. It was here where Justin became Kutmah and ultimately made a name for himself as a talented underground artist & DJ. Kutmah became a member of LA’s dublab collective and then in 2004 he founded the celebrated clubnight ‘Sketchbook’ which forged fundamental roots of the now-infamous LA beat scene. As an associate of Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder collective, his mixtures from his time spent on the West Coast are legendary amongst those that know, and he’s also released several of his own original records – even though he’s predominantly a DJ, with foundations in hip-hop and a record collection that spans far beyond the genre. Since his time in LA, Kutmah has relocated back to England and currently resides in London. He now holds down a show on NTS Radio, and has furthered…
