With all the heat that collectors keep mining from Brazil on comp after comp, it’s only appropriate for 101 Apparel to create a design that pays homage to “Tropicalia”, an art movement in 60’s Brazil that changed the way the world viewed Brazil and its culture. A pan-art approach that combined all the creative mediums but was especially notable for its musical contributions via rock, bossa nova, traditional African and Portuguese influences and political unrest; this pocket of musical history aimed to change the world. A design that attempts to evoke the spirit of those times with bold color technique, and a slogan that is not unlike what one would have see in those times “Tropicalia: art, music, poetry, uprise, 1964, Brazil.”
