What is electro- boogie ? Boogie is the sound of disco, funk, 70's fusion, Afro-futurism, Kraftwerk and George Clinton all rolled into a thick bed of infectious grooves. In the early 80's African-American post-disco artists were experimenting with new synthesizers and technologies while simultaneously growing out of the disco scene which allowed for new forms to take hold. Artists like D-Train, Slave, and Zapp were presenting a more futuristic take on funk while still implementing disco aesthetics and soulful vocals to the electronic experimentation of new-wave artists. In the UK, "boogie" flourished as an outgrowth of the northern soul scene with DJ's like Norman Jay and Greg Wilson popularizing it at their clubs while dropping tracks along side other disco and rare-groove classics. In the last few years boogie has been taking the world by storm with respected DJ's like Kon and Amir, Dam Funk and Joey Negro giving it currency worldwide. Above all this music has a spontaneous fun vibe that was played at anywhere from roller skating rinks, BBQ's as well as the local disco. We decided to take that approach with this design, big bold funky fonts and bright festive colors that pays tribute to the spirit of that sound.
